    April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hey Friends!  Today is April 1 and I think the saying rings true..."April showers bring May flowers."  I hope so because our rainy weather is certainly depressing.  I can't really complain though--I know warm, sunny days will be here faster than we can imagine.  Good.

Well just to catch you up on where life has taken us...I just turned 25 about two weeks ago.  I had a wonderful birthday--it fell the day before Easter.  Jason preached all four services at Apex--it was awesome!  He talked about the history of Easter and shared the relevance of 1 Cor. 15, the need for missions, all while sharing the gospel in very clear ways.  Great things came from his sermons, especially some challenging thoughts I couldn't really keep to myself anymore.  Just goes to show how Jason can teach a few thousand people but be my best friend and personal encourager when I need it most when it comes to my walk with Christ.  How blessed I am to have him as my husband and pastor.  :)

Jason's parents came down from Michigan and brought our very special MeMa (MeMaw).  We had a great time hanging out and celebrating my birthday and Easter.  Jason's mom, LaRae, and Mema, made a birthday breakfast for us.  We indulged in breakfast souflee, coffee, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy.  Yum.  It was then time for presents and I got some special treats!  Jason gave me money so I could see a chiropractor for a much needed adjustment.  (That really was wonderful!)  Then he decided to go above and beyond and he bought me a Bissell TurboSteam Deep Carpet cleaner...yes!  And he aslo got me some Converse One Stars...I wanted white ones and I got them!  (I've since changed my mind and I'll be exchanging them for a different pair of shoes...but nonetheless, he listened to what I wanted and bought them--totally surprised me!)  Yeah--about the Bissell Cleaner...I'm a germ freak.  I hate anything that could possibly be germy.  Allow me to go on a rant if you will about germs...I hate when people go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands and then touch my baby.  I'm grossed out by it.  Also--not a fan of nasty carpet.  Reagan will be crawling soon and the people who owned this house before us had two dogs and I'm not sure how clean the owners kept their dogs.  (I have a feeling the owners were pretty much neat freaks because when we came to view the house I had NO idea they had dogs.  The house smelled clean and there wasn't a trace of dog hair to be found.  Impressive.)  So--not too big of a deal for this house but still...just to be on the safe side I'd like Reagan to be crawling on clean carpets.  So it meant a lot to me that Jason and his parents bought me the deep cleaner!  I'm so thankful for it, can't wait to use it and see how it works.  Thanks Jason, Mike, and LaRae!  OK--back to presents...Mema then gave me a very nice cash gift which I used this past weekend to buy some clothes.  Thanks, Mema--I had a great time and can't wait to show you what I bought.  :)

The next day, Easter, we went to my Mom and Dad's for Easter dinner.  Jason came over after he finished preaching for the day and then Mike, LaRae, and Mema came over.  It was such a nice lunch--lots of laughter at the dinner table.  My dad sure did get LaRae laughing...I won't forget that for a long time.  :)  Oh yeah, before dinner Reagan opened her Easter basket and then I opened up my gifts from Mom and Dad.  I got a great non-stick skillet, and gardening tools!  Can't wait to plant flowers with Mom in the next several weeks--it's gonna be a learning experience, that's for sure.  Now that I have my own home I need to keep it pretty--which is where Mom excells because she is an excellent landscaper and has great ideas!  Becca gave me a giftcard to Target and we had a great time shopping and laughing and eating the entire bowl of cheese they gave us for her nachos.  Really--we both love squirt cheese.

Reagan has been the highlight of my life, besides Jesus and Jason, of course.  She's 5 1/2 months old now!  I really can't believe it--it's flown by to me!  She's almost sitting up on her own now!  She had rice cereal, got constipated for four days, so she immediately went to oatmeal cereal (which has more fiber), and she's lovin' it.  Big girl stuff.  She grabs anything she can and wants to figure it out.  She's growing some hair, she's got about 1/8 inch now...still bald looking from a distance, however.  But...her smile is the best and it's what I look forward to most when we play together.  She loves to be surprised and likes to have her belly tickeled.  What a fun age!  She was sick this past week with a cold, had a low-grade fever, and I thought she may have an ear infection.  I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and she's ok.  Not a thing wrong, just some congestion.  Phew.  She's a little trooper--and so joyful!

OK--I think that's it.  Lots more has happened but my brain is on overload and I really want to go play Yahtzee with Jason.  I beat him last time.  Here are some pics, more will come later with more info on our lives.  Thanks for reading all of this--I'm in a very chatty mood tonight.

    2008...how you've kept us busy...

Well I am sorry it's been so long since I've updated.  We've had so much going on with our families, so I know you understand!  Where to begin...

Uncle Chris came to visit us from Florida this past February.  We had a delightful time with him and we got to spend Valentine's Day with him!  We celebrated at Longhorn Steakhouse.  Jason wrote me a love letter and got me a gift certificate to Affinity for a 1 hour facial!

The most important news with our family is that Jason's grandfather, Kenneth Chappell, suddenly passed away February 16.  He loved the Lord so much and the Lord decided to take him home.  Papa was married to MeMa for 57 years and their marriage was an example to all.  They are from Lennon, MI--not far from Flint.  We are sad that he has passed, but we rejoice that he is with our Father and Savior, Jesus Christ!!  The viewings and funeral were so God-honoring, mirroring Papa's life, which was an example for anyone who knew him.

My beautiful cousin, Abigail Hamilton, married Joseph McKinley this past Saturday, March 1.  The wedding was in Columbia, SC and it was beautiful!  The ceremony was so God-honoring and it was a joy to be a witness of the covenant of marriage they entered together.

Another important event took place...Reagan got to meet her second cousin, Elijah Millard Hamilton!  They're about 5 months apart--Elijah 10 months old, Reagan almost 5 months old.  Here's some pics of my cousin Lydia and Elijah and my mom holding Reagan while I take the pic...
